A picture is worth a thousand words, but I still need to add a few of my own on what to see and do in Door County, Wisconsin. I have been traveling frequently to Door County since the late 60’s. Does this make me an expert, not really. Every trip I learn something new, see something in a different light or see something entirely new. The few words and pictures on my photography Web Site about Door County are just a guide for either the first time traveler or the frequent visitor. I will be adding to this Door County Travel Guide, so stop back often. If you cannot make it to Door County soon, take a look at some of my Door County pictures. Door County has more lighthouses, more shoreline and more state parks than any other county in the United States. It is rich in maritime history. Door County was created in 1851, three years after the State of Wisconsin was formed. Door County is a 483 square mile peninsula surrounded by the waters of Lake Michigan and Green Bay. The county seat is Sturgeon Bay, Door County’s largest municipality. Door County has a full time population of around 30 thousand with a third of the population in Sturgeon Bay, the only city in Door County.
